Alphega Pharmacy launches the fourth edition of the Practical Guide for Mature Women, focusing on menopause.

This new edition of the Practical Guide for Mature Women is available at all pharmacies participating in the Alphega Pharmacy network, enabling pharmacists to provide accurate and reliable information about menopause. 

Twenty-five percent of pre- and post-menopausal women experience symptoms that impact their quality of life, such as hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, nervousness, mood swings, insomnia, fatigue, and vaginal dryness. 

With a holistic approach, the guide redefines the role of women in later life, offering information on nutrition, sports, health, and sexuality. 

Barcelona, February 3, 2025 – Alphega Farmacia, an international network of independent pharmacies linked to Alliance Healthcare and part of the global healthcare solutions company Cencora, launches the fourth edition of the Practical Guide for Mature Women, which addresses this period in women and analyzes hormonal changes from various perspectives, providing quality resources for managing this process. With this tool, available in all pharmacies participating in the Alphega Farmacia network , the company offers pharmacists a means to help patients who visit the pharmacy with uncertainties related to this stage.

Women go through menopause, on average, for more than a third of their lives, a stage that typically begins around age 50. However, symptoms can appear earlier, around age 45, although they are often unrecognized. Thus, menopause can last for 30 or 35 years. This fact invites us to reconsider our perception of the impact of this stage, which, beyond being a biological change, is a natural phase that is part of our life experience.

Menopause can affect not only a woman's physical health but also her emotional and social well-being. Currently, it is estimated that 25% of pre- and post-menopausal women experience symptoms that affect their quality of life, such as hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, nervousness, mood swings, insomnia, fatigue, and vaginal dryness, among others.
