Investing $1 billion in our end-to-end pharmaceutical supply chain

Cencora is investing $1 billion in its U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain through 2030 to expand capacity, strengthen resilience, and modernize how medications move across the country. These investments combine new and expanded distribution infrastructure with pharmaceutical warehouse automation and digital capabilities, helping the network respond to growing demand, operate more efficiently, and support reliable access to critical therapies.

Expanding capacity and resilience

We are expanding our national footprint to add capacity, geographic, and network flexibility. A 530,000-square-foot second national distribution center in Harrison, Ohio, is expected to be fully operational by Fall 2027, significantly increasing storage capacity and throughput. On the West Coast, a new approximately 430,000-square-foot distribution center in Fontana, California, is expected to be fully operational by Fall 2027 and will be nearly double the size of the facility it replaces. Together, these investments strengthen national and regional distribution capacity and support business continuity, helping the network adapt as customer demand, product complexity, and patient needs continue to evolve.

Growing cold chain capacity for specialty pharmaceuticals

Cencora is also expanding cold chain capacity in Dothan, Alabama, to support continued growth in specialty pharmaceuticals and the rising demand for temperature-controlled distribution. Expected to be completed by Spring 2027, the expansion will increase refrigerated storage capacity by 500% and frozen storage capacity by 200%. These investments strengthen Cencora’s ability to handle complex specialty medicines while supporting greater supply chain resilience as more therapies require specialized storage, handling, and transport.
