MWI Animal Health Offers Suite of Customer Communication Platforms as Veterinary Clinics Manage Impact of COVID-19

New and current technology offerings will create seamless connectivity between practices and patients to maintain continuity of care

BOISE, Idaho – MWI Animal Health, a part of AmerisourceBergen and a leading distributor of animal health products, announced today a series of technology tools that will enable veterinarian practices to virtually engage with their clients, which has become critically important as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads and social distancing measures are encouraged. The new offerings will enable enhanced, remote client communication, provide pet parents with peace of mind and help veterinarians remain focused on caring for their patients and improving health outcomes.

“We are a purpose-led company that is united in our responsibility to create healthier futures. It is what drives us every day – and specifically in the face of the current pandemic – to evolve, create and adapt to best support veterinarians as they support their clients and deliver critical care,” said Brian Topper, Vice President of Product Strategy at MWI. “We are tirelessly dedicated to providing our customers with a best-in-class experience so they can spend their time taking care of patients. With the support of strong technology companies like Petriage and SnoutID, we can be sure that our customers can continue to drive high-quality and strong relationships with the pet owners they serve and enhance the care of their patients. These services are relevant all the time, but the current environment really highlights their utility and value.”

MWI will immediately offer several services that provide improved, remote communications for practices and their patients, including:

  • ALLYDVM Two-Way Texting: During a time when social distancing is key, MWI will offer new and existing customers access to the ALLYDVM two-way texting feature at no cost for a limited time. The two-way texting allows veterinary practices to communicate with clients quickly and easily through the ALLYDVM portal and provide real-time updates on pets that are under their care while in the clinic, conduct post-appointment follow-ups and communicate about product purchases.
  • Petriage Pet Telehealth Services: MWI will offer Petriage’s state-of-the-art telehealth platform to veterinarians and veterinary practices throughout North America. The unique platform enables veterinarians to communicate with clients and even treat household pets remotely while also integrating the pets’ medical data effortlessly into their vet practice management systems. Petriage’s telehealth service features a proprietary and advanced online pet symptom checker that uses a sophisticated triage algorithm to identify the severity of what may be ailing a dog or cat and recommend a course of action. Pet owner clients can assess the need for veterinary care and remotely engage their family veterinarian to determine if care is essential in-person, or can be advised-on remotely or postponed – a critical step as health authorities continue to recommend limiting face-to-face contact in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
  • SnoutID: Through a collaboration with MWI, SnoutID will be made available to veterinarian practices across the U.S. to enable curbside operations. The touch-less check-in system allows clients to check-in remotely from their own device. SnoutID’s proprietary system also provides secure access to the pet’s complete medical history and standardizes records across any veterinary practice in North America, thus ensuring veterinarians have all the data they need without clients ever setting foot in the practice. With this process, veterinarians can continue to take new patients and provide regular care safely.

In addition to the client communication technology tools, MWI is also offering practices the opportunity to download employee and customer communication templates, access a COVID-19 response kit and participate in a series of web-based continuing education resources.
