Are you ready for the MVPs?

In 2029, CMS will be sunsetting the traditional MIPS program for the MVPs (MIPS Value Pathways). Is your practice ready to make a switch?

According to CMS - Clinicians have 3 MIPS reporting options: MVPs, traditional MIPS, and the APM Performance Pathway (APP). Starting in 2026, any multispecialty groups intending to report MVPs will be required to report as subgroups or individuals. CMS plans to sunset traditional MIPS in the future, at which point MVPs will become mandatory unless the clinician is eligible to report the APP.

The Quality Reporting Engagement Group is suggesting that practices consider reporting an MVP alongside their traditional MIPS, if possible, this year.  With the extra submission, practices will gain some workflow experience before the MVP is required.  With the multiple submissions as a MIP and an MVP, CMS will take the higher of the two scores.

Practices should consider this a “window of opportunity” to gain some experience without being penalized.

How can your practice do this?

Your practice’s security officer (the individual with the Security Official role), must register to submit a MVP between now and December 2, 2024.  CMS provides an interactive MVP Registration Guide , but if you have questions and would like help in completing the registration process, you can contact the consulting team at QREG@intrinsiq.com for more information.

The QREG consulting team has over 75+ years of combined experience, has worked with nearly 20 specialties in over 220 practices, with an exceptional performer rate of over 98% for all clinicians since 2017. For information on contracting with them, email info@intrinsiq.com or call (877) 570-8721.
