An innovative solution dispenses medicines at the U Salvátora Pharmacy
The U Salvátora pharmacy in Nové Město na Moravě, which has been a member of the Alphega pharmacy virtual concept since 2012, began using the Gollmann automatic pharmacy warehouse system in September of this year.
German company Gollmann uses its own patented rolling rack technology, which allows individual racks to be moved along rail tracks. The result is that up to 50% more products can be stored in the same area than with conventional automated storage systems.
"Thanks to advanced robotic technology, the system can safely and accurately store, search and dispense medicines. This will save pharmacists work and speed up the dispensing of medicines. We can also provide all the administration related to drawing subsidies for the provision of the robot," said MUDr. Pavel Doubrava, CEO of Pharmedex, the exclusive distributor of the GOLLMANN system. Pharmedex was founded in 2004 and deals with parallel and extraordinary import of medicines.
"We were looking for a solution that would help improve working conditions, save space and ensure greater clarity in the warehouse. We are satisfied with the robot - it helps us, among other things, minimize confusion with smaller or larger packages, automatically checks the batch and expiration date and allows us to devote more time to patients," adds the head of the pharmacy, Mgr. Jana Nováková.
When a patient comes to a pharmacy today, they simply load an electronic prescription into the computer and give a command to the robot, which then delivers the medicine directly to the container via a conveyor belt. Dispensing one box takes about 10 seconds, depending on the length of the conveyor belt and the layout of the pharmacy.
According to Magistra Nováková, preparing the pharmacy for the installation of the handmade robot was not difficult, as the pharmacy had only moved to the existing premises of the medical center a year ago. This mainly involved installing air conditioning in the robot and modifying the electrical installation.
Pharmedex can also provide all the administration related to drawing subsidies to provide a robot for pharmacies.
