The growing case for AI to support pharmacovigilance: World Drug Safety Congress Americas key takeaways
Artificial intelligence and automation were top of mind at this year’s World Safety Congress. While AI featured prominently in main sessions, breakouts dug into more safety-specific applications and revealed uneven adoption: polling showed only 9% have fully AI-enabled literature screening and 7% use AI extensively to summarize or analyze safety cases, with many still exploring. Speakers emphasized that organizations are on different AI journeys, often requiring vendor support and workflow integration, and that standardizing safety data and processes is a prerequisite for scalable, end-to-end PV automation.
