Samantha (Sam) Hammock is Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for Cencora, Inc. As part of the enterprise leadership team, she leads the company’s talent strategy in support of its people, culture, and long-term business priorities.

With more than 25 years of experience, Sam has helped global organizations navigate change and create environments that support meaningful growth. She brings a thoughtful, people-centered approach to her work, shaped by deep experience in talent strategy, leadership development, and change management. Prior to joining Cencora in 2026, Sam served as Executive Vice President and CHRO at Verizon, where she led people strategy for a global workforce of more than 100,000 employees. Before that, she spent more than 14 years at American Express in a series of leadership roles, ultimately serving as Head of Global Talent and Learning. Sam is a recognized voice in HR leadership and the future of work. Her thought leadership work has been featured in Forbes and Harvard Business Review. She currently serves as a Board Member of the CHRO Association and is a frequent speaker at HR and leadership forums. 
 
She holds a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Michigan State University.
